Haiti Food Relief

Thank you and your churches for your generous contributions of food (beans, rice, canned vegetables and fruit). A friendly reminder:  If you can package the food in boxes (beans in a box, rice in a box, etc), that would be extremely helpful. I know that at the Wrightsboro UMC drop-off location we already have enough for a good size Panel Truck.   Collections for food continues through the month of February—which will be helpful since some folks were not able to have Worship last Sunday. As wonderful as clothing is, please do not collect clothing!

If you know of folks who are going to MERCI on Saturday (Feb 6), This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. so that I can communicate that to Ann Huffman. I have already a list of about 40 folks who will be going from the Wilmington District—not counting those who have made your own arrangements with MERCI.  As of this morning, the Conference has already shipped two 40-ft containers of food and other supplies to Haiti.  There are about 50 tons of supplies waiting to be palletized on Sat for shipment at MERCI—not counting those items which will be delivered from four districts this Sat.   If you still have food to take to one of the collection points, please do so by early Friday morning, as we will be sending a truck to Whiteville UMC and Bethlehem UMC on Friday.
